Apple Ridge Recap
The Titans opened their season this past weekend at Central Washington's XC Course in Yakima, WA. The Apple Ridge Run grass course had some rolling hills, and the temp was a warm 80 plus degrees for both races. The women started the day with a 4k, and had a strong showing with two ladies finishing in the top-8. Gylany Crossman (SO) finished in 2nd, 15 seconds behind the winner; while Rachel Jensen (SO) finished 8th. The men also had 2 runners in the top-8 and finished 4th in the team standings as the first Community College Team. Cesar Perez (SO) finished in 4th just 30 seconds off the leader, Daniel Silvey (SO) finished in 8th, followed by sophomore Dane Steeves (28) and several freshman: Ryan Perry (21), Joe Campbell (22), Kyle Ruhlin (23), Weston Petewon (27), Stetson Smith (29), and Brandon Bouchet (35). "After a long drive the day before, the heat, and not much formal training; I feel our men and women showed some determination today" said Coach John Scholl. "I see some strengths that we will continue to build on, as well as areas that we definitely need to strengthen in the coming weeks. We'll have several hard training sessions over the next couple of weeks that should help us have an even better showing at our home meet on 9/24."
