Baseball blows by Lakers
EUGENE, OR - Lane looked strong today against SWOCC with two big wins at home. In Game 1, Dawson Phinney threw seven innings in the 8-1 win, with the only run coming off an error in the top of the seventh. The Titans left 13 men on base, but got good showings from Cody Chagnon and Elliot Sherrell (both 2-for-4 with double), Cody McDonald (1-4 with 2 RBIs), and Blake Montague (2-for-3). Josh Wonsley pitched 5 2/3 innings in the loss for the Lakers allowing 11 hits and 7 runs, 4 of which were earned.
Lane came out swinging in Game 2 getting 3 runs in the bottom of the first, which was enough in the 5-2 win. The Titans got just 3 hits, one each from Spencer Smith (1-for-4), Elliot Sherrell, and Blake Montague ( both 1-for-2). Sherrell (pictured) and Daniel Katayama both got 2 RBIs in the win. Colben McGuire pitched 6 innings and gave up four hits and two runs, striking out six and walking one in the win for the Titans. Parker Sherrell pitched one inning for the save. Kevin Harrison was the losing pitcher only giving up one earned run out of the five scored. Lane now has a season record of 20-16 with a 14-12 division record. Division leader Mt. Hood lost 2 which helps the Titans cause of trying to make the post-season tournament. Lane will face Clackamas (10-28, 7-19) in an away double-header on Tuesday, 5/15 @ 1pm. Lane has piled up a 48-8 run total in the four wins against Clackamas this season.
