Free throws carry Titans past Yaks

LONGVIEW, Wash. — Accurate free-throw shooting and balanced scoring helped Lane Community College’s women’s basketball team beat Yakima Valley 88-71 in the semifinals of the Lower Columbia Crossover Tournament on Saturday.

The Titans, 8-0 and ranked No. 1 in the Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges, made 20-of-22 foul shots and all 13 of their attempts in the second half.

Tiffany Rich came off the bench for a team-high 14 points and 11 rebounds for Lane.

The Titans will play in the title game at 3 p.m. today against Clackamas.
