Girard wins women’s race at NWAC cross country regional

OREGON CITY — Danielle Girard held off teammate Madison Schell to win the individual title, and Lane’s women finished second at the NWAC Southern Region cross country meet on Friday at Clackamas Community College.

Girard won the race in 19 minutes, 17 seconds, 2 seconds ahead of Schell, but Clark had three of the next four runners to win the team title with 33 points, two ahead of Lane.

In the men’s race, Elmer Shelevy finished in 25:56 over the 8,000-meter course to finish fourth overall and lead Lane to third place in the team race with 62 points.

Treasure Valley won the team with with 52 points and Clackamas was second with 57.
