Kimbrough helps Lane women clinch second place

Jordan Kimbrough scored 23 points and grabbed 20 rebounds, and Lane clinched the Southern Region’s No. 2 seed to the NWAC women’s basketball tournament with a 78-49 rout of Chemeketa on Saturday afternoon at Lane.

Lane (22-7, 8-4 Southern Region) will face Skagit Valley, the No. 3 seed from the Northern Region, in the first round of the 16-team NWAC tournament at noon Saturday in Kennewick, Wash. It’s the Titans’ 14th consecutive trip to the tournament.

Bre DuBois added 17 points for Lane, and Jacia Jointer had 11 points, six rebounds, four assists and four steals. Lane held the Storm to 29 percent shooting in the first half and rolled to a 43-23 halftime lead.

The Titans had 16 steals and forced Chemeketa (5-20, 3-9) into 27 turnovers.

Jessica Roberts and Jessica Sexson led Chemeketa with 11 points apiece.
