Lady Titans Fast Start Leads to Second League Win
The undefeated Lane Lady Titans (16-0, 2-0) started Wednesday's game with a 30-4 run enroute to a 85-60 win over the Linn-Benton Roadrunners (4-10, 1-1). During this run the Titans used their full court press to cause numerous turnovers and continued their hot-shooting by knocking down seven first half three-pointers. The Roadrunners came roaring back in the last eight minutes and narrowed the halftime lead to 48-34.
The Titans consistency in the second half increased the lead gradually back to the twenty point range behind a strong second half by Simone Thompson (Gardena, CA.) who was the points leader with 19 on 5-for-13 shooting from behind the arc. Megan Shields (Sherwood, OR.) also had another strong outing with 16 pts, 7 rebounds and 3 blocks. Kersey Wilcox (Prineville, OR.) continued her outstanding play at point guard putting in 13 pts, recording 7 steals and dishing out 4 assists. Jordan Wilcox (Prineville, OR.) had 13 pts, Danielle Schmidt (Hillsboro, OR.) had 9 pts, 9 rebounds and team leading 5 assists. Nicole Hannifan (Milwaukee, OR.) led all rebounders with 10 boards.
The Titans face their first road test of the Southern Region campaign traveling to Salem Saturday afternoon at 2:00pm to face the Chemeketa Storm (8-7, 1-1). The Titans face the Storm for the second time this season after defeating them 92-68 in the championship game of the Chemeketa Holiday Classic December 30th.
