Lady Titans Sail Into Crossover Semi-Finals
Lane raced to a 26-2 lead after the first five minutes then sailed past the South Puget Sound Clippers 115-36. The Titans continued their hot start throughout the first half behind the hot shooting of Freshman Renee Lucero (Stanwood, WA.) as she canned five three-pointers in the half in route to 15 points. Sophomore Megan Shields (Sherwood, OR.) also had a big first half with 13 points. The Titans finished the half with a 61-10 lead holding SPSCC to 17% shooting for the half.
The hot shooting continued for Lane in the second half and move players joined the party. The Titans finished with six players in double figures. Lucero finished with 18 pts as did Simone Thompson (Gardena, CA.). Shields collected 15 pts, Tori Mahaffie (Eugene, OR.) scored 13 pts, Courtney Walchli (Hermiston, OR.) had 12 pts and Nicole Hannifan (Milwaukee, OR.) scored 10 pts. The Titans also had steal fest lead by Thompson and Maddy Moore (San Ramon, CA.) with 7 thefts each. Shields pilfered 6 for the Titans and Kersey Wilcox (Prineville, OR.) had 4. Danielle Schmidt (Hillsboro, OR.) and Moore led the squad with 5 assists and Wilcox collected 4. Maddy Henshaw (Eugene, OR.) led all rebounders with 7 boards.
The Lady Titans (9-0) face Peninsula College in the Crossover semi-finals Saturday night at 7 pm in the Titan Gym. In the other semi-final, Yakima Valley CC faces Bellevue College at 5 pm.
