The honors continue to roll in for University of Oregon track and field athletes.

UO junior Cyrus Hostetler was named USA Track & Field’s Athlete of the Week after setting a Pac-10 record in the men’s javelin last Saturday at the Pepsi Team Invitational at Hayward Field.

Hostetler, who arrived at Oregon from Lane Community College, won the javelin competition with a world-leading mark of 272 feet, 10 inches. His throw set a Pac-10, school and meet record, and ranks as the fourth-best mark in NCAA history.

Hostetler becomes the third Duck to be honored by USATF this season, following junior Ashton Eaton (Feb. 3) and senior Galen Rupp (Feb. 17 and March 17).

Hostetler also earned Pac-10 field athlete of the week for his performance.view complete article
