Lane baseball announces its first signee for the 2013/2014 season in senior Jackson Bertsch from Pleasant Hill High School, Eugene, OR. Jackson is a 6’2’ 200 lbs RHP/OF that throws right handed and bats from both sides of the plate. He is a 3 sport athlete that has had extreme success in all 3 sports. In football he was awarded 1st Team all-state tight end for the 2012-13 season and 1st team all-league defensive line. The Billies made it to the quarter finals of the state playoffs all 4 years while Jackson participated. As a baseball player Jackson was a 1st team all-state as both an outfielder and a pitcher 2011-12. He hit .500 with 27 RBI’s as a junior and posted 5-0 mark on the mound while holding opposing hitters to a merger .177 batting average.

Coach Blunt on Jackson: First off he is an exceptional young man both on the field and within in the community. There is no question that he is a difference maker both at the plate and on the mound but what separate’s Jackson are his intangibles and his desire to succeed. He has the ability to take over a game on both sides of the ball. We are extremely excited about the opportunity to help develop a student-athlete with his skills and make up. Jackson was our first player we sat down with and started the recruiting process off with and it is really fitting that he is the TITANS first signee.
