Lane falls in NWAC tourney opener

EVERETT, Wash. — Alexcis Higginbotham scored 20 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead Columbia Basin to a 73-57 victory over Lane in a first-round NWAC women’s basketball tournament game played late Saturday.

The Hawks led 52-50 entering the fourth quarter, but pulled away with a 21-7 run in the final period.

Emily Botkin added 16 points and 14 rebounds for CBC.

Amber Lease led Lane with 12 points, Asha Tullock added 11 points and Sarah Hall had 10 points and 11 rebounds. It was the first time the Titans have fallen short of the semifinals since 2012.
