Lane men finish second in meet

NEWBERG — Michael Martin’s runner-up finish led the Lane men’s cross country team to a second-place finish Saturday at George Fox’s Wes Cook Invitational.

Martin completed the 8,000-meter course in 25:42.0, finishing second to Cook’s 25:35.4.

The Oregon Running Club won the men’s team title with 27 points to 97 for Lane. Whitman was third with 106.

Moises Martinez also finished in the top 10 for the Titans, placing sixth in 26:00.3.

Lexi Healy finished fifth in the women’s 6,000-meter race for Lane in 23:00.5, leading the Titans to an eighth-place team finish with 188 points. Linfield won with 76 points to 85 for Whitworth and 90 for Whitman.

Whitworth’s Kayla Leland was the individual winner in 21:44.9.
