Lane women breeze to semis
Titans crush Peninsula 121-59 at Washington basketball tournament
TACOMA — Ashley Smith had 35 points, nine rebounds and five steals to lead Lane Community College to a 121-59 rout of Peninsula in a first-round game at the Pierce women’s basketball tournament on Friday night.
Victoria Nnoli added 21 points off the bench, and Kristen Huff, MaKenzie Ficek and Brittany May scored 13 points apiece for the Titans, who shot 51 percent from the field (48-of-95).
Lane, the top-ranked team in the NWAACC, will face sixth-ranked Skagit Valley in a semifinal game at 5 p.m. today.
