Lane women wrap up fourth place
KENNEWICK, Wash. — Some six weeks later, the Titans got their revenge.
Kristen Huff had 26 points and 19 rebounds, and Lane Community College held Clackamas to a record-low seven second-half points in a 55-35 victory Tuesday night to finish in fourth place at the NWAACC women’s basketball tournament.
Ashley Smith added 18 points and 11 rebounds, earning second-team all-tournament honors, as the Titans (24-6) avenged a Jan. 29 loss to Clackamas that ended Lane’s national-best 83-game home winning streak.
Clackamas (25-4), which also beat Lane in Oregon City last month, finished seventh.
Lane took the lead for good late in the first half and took a 34-28 lead into halftime. Clackamas then shot a dismal 12 percent from the field in the second period and set a tournament record for the fewest points in a half as the Titans pulled away.
