LONGVIEW, Wash. — Tanner Olson and two relievers held Lane to just four hits for Lower Columbia Community College in a 5-1 baseball victory to complete a doubleheader sweep at David Story Field on Friday.

Olson (1-0) gave up two singles to Lane’s Jarren Goddard over six innings for the Red Devils (5-1), who won their fifth consecutive game. The Titans (2-2) scored in the ninth on a bases-loaded fielder’s choice.

In the first game, Peter Leece’s second of two home runs, a three-run shot in the bottom of the seventh, was the winning blow in Lower Columbia’s 9-6 victory. Leece drove in five runs, and Mason Dunning also had a solo homer.

Lane finished with seven hits by seven players, highlighted by Darin Nelson’s two-run double in the fourth that tied the score at 4-4. Erik Long also had a double and an RBI, and starting pitcher Parker Sherell (0-1), who gave up five runs but only two earned over five innings, took the loss.

The teams will play another doubleheader starting at noon today.
