Red Lion Scholarship awarded to Lane Student-Athlete
PASCO, WA - On Thursday night at the Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges Hall of Fame banquet hosted by Red Lion Hotels, Lane Cross Country and Track Athlete Gylany Crossman was awarded the 2011-12 NWAACC Red Lion Scholarship. The Bellingham, WA native is Lane's first recipient to win the award. The one-thousand dollar scholarship is awarded to a standout student-athlete who has excelled in the classroom, in their respective sport(s), and in their community.
She has a 4.10 cumulative GPA and was on the Lane President's List in the Fall 2011 and Winter 2012. In the Fall 2011 Cross Country season, Crossman was the Southern Region Champion, and the NWAACC runner-up earning All-American honors. In Spring Track 2012, she was the Southern Region Champion in the 800 and runner-up in the 1500. At the NWAACC Track Championships, Crossman won the 10k and finished second in the 1500 and 5k earning three All-American honors. During the season she also broke the 35-year-old school record in the 3,000 meters. Crossman is also an active member of the Lane Student-Athlete Leadership Council. She will be attending and competing for the Division II powerhouse Adams State Grizzlies in Alamosa, CO.
