Shields powers LCC past Umpqua

Megan Shields had 26 points and nine rebounds to lead Lane to a 74-65 Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges women’s basketball victory over Umpqua on Wednesday night.

Reed Levings and Kersey Wilcox added 11 points apiece for the Titans (14-4), who improved to 4-1 in the NWAACC’s South Region. Levings also had eight rebounds and five steals, and Joleen Chanco led Lane with six assists.

The Titans outrebounded the taller Riverhawks (11-8, 4-2) by a 55-48 margin.

Deanna Tupai led Umpqua with a game-high 29 points, and Samantha Thornton had a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds.
