COOS BAY — Megan Shields missed a triple-double by two blocked shots and Lane bounced back from its second loss of the season with a 65-49 women’s basketball victory over Southwestern Oregon on Wednesday night.

Shields, a 6-foot-1 sophomore forward from Sherwood, scored 31 points, grabbed 17 rebounds and blocked eight shots to lead the Titans (23-2, 9-2 South Region), who are ranked second in the 32-team Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges after losing last Saturday at home to Chemeketa.

The win was the 499th of coach Greg Sheley’s career that started at Butte (Calif.) College in 1992 and continued at LCC starting in 1999. Sheley will go for No. 500 when the Titans host top-ranked Clackamas at 2 p.m. Saturday.
