Smith, Huff lead Lane women past Umpqua
ROSEBURG — Ashley Smith had 21 points and 15 rebounds, and Kristen Huff scored a game-high 24 points as Lane set up next Friday’s first-place showdown with Clackamas with a 69-61 women’s basketball victory over Umpqua Community College on Saturday.
The Titans (20-4), who are ranked fourth in the Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges, stand second in the South Region at 10-2, one game behind the top-ranked Cougars (11-1) with two games left in the regular season. Clackamas already owns a 68-65 victory over Lane that snapped the Titans’ 83-game home winning streak on Jan. 29.
Chelsey Christensen led the Riverhawks (17-7, 8-4) with 17 points, and Pua Kailiawa and Jameia McDuffie added 12 each.
