Titan men, women second

BATTLE GROUND, Wash. — Lane’s Jonathan Cornish got nipped at the finish line by Spokane’s Daniel Schofield, and the Titans also finished second in the men’s and women’s team races on Saturday at the NWAC Cross Country Championships at Lewisville Park.

Cornish and Schofield finished with the same time over the 8,000-meter course, 25 minutes, 19 seconds.

Spokane finished with 32 points, and Lane had 42.

The Titans placed four runners in the top 10, including Gabe Collins (sixth, 25:54), David Cornish (seventh, 25:55) and Ben Harter (ninth, 25:56).

In the women’s race, Spokane runners finished second, third and fourth to give the Bigfoot the team title with 36 points. Lane was second with 61.

Nicole Maurmann was the Titans’ top finisher, taking fifth place and covering the 5,000 meters in 18:32.
