Titans Remain Undefeated Despite Heavy Storm
Lane Titans (17-0, 3-0 South Region) survived a hot shooting Chemeketa Storm team to remain undefeated for the season with a 95-79 comeback road win. The Storm shot 61% from the field and 67% from the three point line in the first half to lead 56-51 at the intermission. The Titans also remained undefeated in South region play by almost matching the Storm in the first half, then clamping down on Chemeketa in the second half allowing only 23 points after the break.
Sophomore point guard Kersey Wilcox (Prineville, OR.) again led the way for the Titans with 26 pts, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals. Wilcox, already Lane's all-time career leader in free throws made, knocked down 14 of 18 charity shots in the game. Another Sophomore, Danielle Schmidt (Hillsboro, OR.), came off the bench to score 22 pts, on 9-for-12 shooting from the floor. Continuing the Sophomore theme, Megan Shields (Sherwood, OR.) scored 17 pts with a game high 7 rebounds for the Titans. The lone Freshman in double figures, Simone Thompson (Gardena, CA.) scored 16 pts.
McKenzi Benedict led the Storm with 16 pts and 6 rebounds, including an outstanding 8-for-8 from the free throw line.
Lane takes their 89 points per game average into Wednesday's South region home game with Southwestern Oregon CC at 5:30pm in the Titan Gym. The Titans look to improve on their winning margin of a whopping 32 point per victory against the high scoring Lakers.
