Titans split first NWAC doubleheader

Jackson Bertsch pitched a complete-game shutout to help the Lane baseball team open NWAC South Region play with a 1-0 victory over Clark on Friday at Titan Field.

The sophomore right-hander scattered four hits over nine innings, struck out seven and did not surrender a walk. Bertsch is now 3-0 this season.

Trevor Casanova drove in the game’s only run with a sacrifice fly in the third inning, scoring Forrest Garcia.

The Titans (9-8, 1-1) fell in the nightcap, 3-2. Kyle Watson went 2-for-3 with an RBI and Kyle Henderson also drove in a run for Lane, which plays a doubleheader against Clark at 1 p.m. today in Vancouver.
