Lane Community College’s Jonathan Cornish also wins the men’s XC race

OREGON CITY — Lane Community College swept the teams titles at the NWAC Southern Region cross country championship meets at Clackamas Community College on Saturday.

Jonathan Cornish and Ben Harter had a 1-2 in the 8,000-meter men’s race for the Titans.

Cornish finished in 26 minutes, 15 seconds. Harter was right behind in 26:24.

Also scoring for Lane were David Cornish, who finished in 11th place in 27:21, Daniel Padilla was 13th in 27:29 and Efrain Jaime was 14th in 27:35.

The Titans’ team total was 38 points, just one point fewer than Clackamas, which finished in second with 39.

The Lane women also scored 39 points to win the team trophy. Mount Hood was second with 56 points.

Leading the way for the Titans were Nicole Maurmann (19:05), Alli Cross (19:16) and Katy Potter (19:20), who finished the 5K course in second, third and fourth place, respectively.

Also scoring for Lane was Madison Schell (14th, 20:42) and Kendall Maslen (16th, 20:52).

The women’s individual winner was Georgia Glovatsky from Mount Hood with a 18:42 finish.

Next up for both teams is the NWAC Championship meet Nov. 8 at Lewisville Park in Battleground, Wash.
