Walchli Leads Titans to 26th Victory
Courtney Walchli (Hermiston, OR) , back after almost a month off because of a concussion and in the starting lineup for the fourth consecutive game, scored 13 pts and grabbed 3 rebounds to lead the Lane Titans to their 26th victory of the year with a 76-37 triumph over the Portland CC Panthers Saturday at PCC.
The Titans jumped to an early lead in the first quarter with Walchli and Jordan Wilcox (Prineville, OR.) both knocking down two 3-pointers in the half and controlling the boards with a 29-14 advantage at the break and leading 44-16. The Titans kept the heat on with a solid second half performance with all twelve players scoring and eleven players playing at least 12 minutes in the game.
For the only time this year the Titans had only one player in double figures (Walchli) but Megan Shields (Sherwood, OR.) had 9 pts, 12 rebounds and 5 blocks. Renee Lucero (Stanwood, WA.), Jordan Wilcox and Danielle Schmidt (Hillsboro, OR.) had 8 pts in the win. Nicole Hannifan (Milwaukee, OR.) had 5 pts and 12 rebounds, Felli Rodriquez (Springfield, OR.) had 6 pts and 6 rebounds, Kersey Wilcox (Prineville, OR.) had 6 rebounds and team high 5 assists.
Lane (26-2, 12-2 South region) claimed the #2 seed from the South for the upcoming 2013 NWAACC championship March 2-5. The Titans play the #3 seed from the East region, Yakima Valley (16-11, 9-5 East region) next Saturday, 12:00pm at the Toyota Arena in Kennewick, WA. The Titans defeated the Yaks earlier in the season 84-54 in the championship game of the 2012 Crossover tournament on the Titan's home court
