Emerald City Open Recap
The Titans traveled up to Seattle, WA for the Emerald City Open at Woodland Park this past weekend. The race consisted of several Division I & II schools including U of Washington, Seattle U, and Seattle Pacific U. The course was a tough 2k loop with the second half being mostly uphill. The women kicked off the races with a 6k; a distance longer than what they are training for. Rachel Jensen (SO) was the Titans top runner. Jensen ran a very smart race to be the first Community College finisher placing 10th overall.
The men also had a hard task ahead of them running their first 8k of the season. Daniel Silvey (FR) was the Titans top finisher in 11th, while Cesar Perez (SO) also had a strong showing to finish 16th. The men finished third in the team race with their top six men finishing in the top-40; Ryan Perry (27), Joe Campbell (30), Kyle Ruhlin (38), and Weston Petewon (40). "We had another hard week of training this past week" said Coach John Scholl, "and this race was set up to be a hard training effort." I gave everyone a certain pace to go out in, with the goal of passing people as the race went on. Everyone executed the race strategy very well today, and we came away with some great results."
The Titans will have a week off before heading to Portland for the Adidas/Concordia Classic on 10/15.
