Freebies help Umpqua beat Lane
The Riverhawks make 19-of-24 free throws in the second half
ROSEBURG — Umpqua took advantage of frequent trips to the free-throw line in the second half to defeat Lane 69-61 in a Northwest Athletic Conference women’s basketball game Wednesday.
The Titans held a 29-27 halftime lead, but the Riverhawks hit 19-of-24 shots at the foul line to pull ahead. Lane was 6-of-15 at the free-throw line in the second half.
Freshman guard Sawyer Kluge scored 29 points for Umpqua, which outrebounded Lane 52-40. Anna Mumm finished with 10 points and 10 rebounds for the Riverhawks (15-2 overall, 2-0 league).
Jordan Kimbrough paced the Titans (14-4 overall, 1-1 league) with 20 points and 12 rebounds. Marikah Wright also scored 20 points for Lane, which plays Mount Hood at 2 p.m. Saturday at home.
