Geydon, Berkner go 1-2 in NWAACC meet
SPOKANE — Freshman Elias Geydon and sophomore Jacob Berkner finished 1-2 to lead Lane to second place at the Northwest Athletics Association of Community Colleges men’s cross country meet on Saturday.
Geydon won the 8,000-meter race in 25 minutes, 8.9 seconds, and Berkner was second in 25:21.79 as the Titans scored 48 points. Host Spokane won the men’s title with 38 points by placing four runners among the top eight, and Everett was third with 51.
Lane freshman Aaron Kirch was 10th in 25:57.17, and two more freshmen, Theo Puentes and Javier Velasco, were 17th and 18th, respectively, in 26:22.79 and 26:27.04.
In the women’s race, Everett was a repeat champion with 21 points, and Spokane was second with 58. Lane was seventh with 162. The top finishers for the Titans over 5,000 meters were freshmen Macauley Wilson, who was 24th in 21:27.54, and Blair Harris, who was 28th in 21:35.21. Spokane freshman Jessica Mildes was the winner in 17:59.66.
