Goodrie’s PK lifts Lane past Sasquatch
SPOKANE — Freshman midfielder Anna Goodrie’s penalty kick in the second half snapped a 1-all tie and lifted Lane Community College to a 2-1 Northwest Athletic Conference victory in women’s soccer on Saturday against Spokane.
The Titans improved to 2-1-2 in league play, and the Sasquatch suffered their first NWAC loss and dropped to 4-1-0.
Sophomore midfielder Taylor Boyer gave Lane a 1-0 lead with a point-blank goal in the 16th minute, and Spokane responded with the tying goal just before halftime.
Goodrie then earned the penalty kick after Boyer was taken down in the 47th minute.
Freshman goalkeeper Erica Cogburn recorded eight saves for the Titans. Goodrie, Boyer and Cogburn all played at Thurston High.
Lane returns home to play Wenatchee Valley on Thursday and Columbia Basin on Friday.
