Kau, Guzman spark Titans at preview meet
Lane’s Jennifer Guzman won the discus, the shot put and the hammer, and former Crow High School standout Linsey Kau easily won the javelin in a dominant throws day for the host Titans at the Lane Preview on Saturday.
In her first collegiate meet, Kau threw 133 feet, 2 inches to win the javelin, nearly 19 feet farther than the second-place finisher. She also placed second to Guzman in the discus and the hammer.
Lane’s 4x400-meter relay team of Shawndra Ferris, Laura Jackson, Miranda Hatcher and Chandra Johanningmeier won in 4 minutes, 25.02 seconds.
Brittany Arch, Stephanie Hescock and Megan Hall gave Northwest Christian University a 1-2-3 finish in the women’s 3,000. Arch won in 10:11.24, Hescock was right behind in 10:12.50 and Hall was third in 10:37.71.
On the men’s side, Lane’s Jordan Latt cruised to a victory in the 400 by almost three seconds, finishing in 49.87.
Latt also anchored Lane’s victory in the 4x400 relay, joining David Formolo, Larry Powell and Preston Smee to cruise to a seven-second victory in 3:28.19.
Josh Pecktol cleared 6-4 and Sean Cohen 6-2 to give Lane a 1-2 finish in the high jump.
Lane’s Jordan Parker, competing unattached, won the pole vault (15-5), with teammate Garrett Pruit second.
