Lady Titans open with Titan Classic
The 2014-2015 edition of Lane Lady Titans will begin their season, November 21st at 8pm versus Everett CC in the 1st Annual Titan Classic. The new classic format, three games in three days with all four participants playing each other, is a first for the Titans. After Friday’s opening game the Titans play Pierce College on Saturday at 4pm, then finish the tournament with the George Fox College JV’s on Sunday at 2pm. The tournament champion will be determined by best record plus an All-Tournament team will be selected.
The Lady Titans return a couple prominent players from last year’s squad, Marikah Wright averaged 10 pts per game and 7 rebounds and was selected to the South region 2nd team All-Conference. Gabby Heehn averaged 8.75 pts per game and 2.5 rebounds along with setting a single season record for three point attempts and finishing in third place all-time with 72 made three pointers.
Other returners Jacia Jointer, 5.5 pts per game and Carmen Wright, 4.5 pts per game are joined by transfer Maddie Kiplinger from Linn-Benton CC who two years ago averaged 14.7 pts a game for Roadrunners.
Joining these returners are a host of signees who will make big contributions to this year’s squad. Jordan Kimbrough, Enterprise High, Redding, CA, will start at center for the Titans and has big game experience playing in last year’s California Division III state championship game. Another post/forward signee Bre DuBois also played in a state championship game, Washington’s 2A game after winning the same game the year before.
Newcomers that will see lots of playing time will include Belle Diouf, the player of the year in last year’s 6A Special District 2 conference and Sara Kesling the 4A SkyEm player of the year. Keeli Munkrees, a starter on last year’s 5A State Champion Willamette Wolverines should see the floor a lot early. The last signee Lindsey Lundberg from Chico HS, Chico, CA. has been hampered by illness and injury in fall camp.
The Titans difficult preseason schedule will include tournaments at Bellevue College, Pierce College, Green River CC and Chemeketa CC before the always tough Southern Region plays begins in January.
