Lady Titans Send Six Players to Next Level

Six Lane Community College women's basketball players have signed to extend their basketball careers at 4-yr schools.  Megan Shields (Sherwood HS) who averaged 13.7 pts, 8.7 rebounds and 3 blocks per game for the Titans, has signed to play at Humboldt State University (NCAA Div. II) in Arcata, California.  Shields, who in her Lane career, became the career leader in blocked shots with 173, as well as fourth in career rebounding with 477 rebounds, fifth in field goals made with 303, fifth in field goal percentage at .500% and eleventh in career scoring 780 points.  Shields was named first team All-Southern Region both seasons plus was named first team All-NWAACC tournament this season.


Kersey Wilcox (Mountain View HS) will join teammate Shields next season at Humboldt State University.  Wilcox averaged 10.3 pts, 4.7 assists and 2.8 steals per game this season.  Wilcox also found a place in the Lane career record book becoming the career leader in free throws made for her career with 289.  She also is second in free throw percentage at 79%, twelve in career scoring with 779 points, fifth in career steals with 166 and assists with 272. Like Shields, Kersey was named first team All-Southern Region both seasons at Lane and first team All-NWAACC tournament this year.


Simone Thompson (Serra HS, Gardena,CA.) is leaving Lane after one year to return to Southern California at NCAA Division II school Cal State Dominguez Hills University.  Thompson averaged 9.8 pts, 2.4 rebounds and 2.1 steals for the Titans.


Jordan Wilcox (Mountain View HS) has signed to play at Warner Pacific College (NAIA Div. II) in Portland, Oregon. Jordan averaged 7.3 pts and 3.3 rebounds per game for the Titans.  Jordan also left Lane in seventh place on the 3-pt field goals made list with 96 and also seventh on 3-pt field goals attempted list with 296. Additionally, Jordan was named to the All-Southern region second team this season.


Courtney Walchli (Hermiston HS) has also signed to play at Warner Pacific College for next season.  Courtney averaged 6.2 pts and 4.4 rebounds per game this season for the Titans.  Courtney finished the championship season by making a crucial steal in the last second of the NWAACC championship game to seal the title for the Titans!


The final Titan to sign this spring is Danielle Schmidt (Hillsboro HS) who signed to play next season with Northwest Christian University (NAIA Div. II) here in Eugene, Oregon.  Danielle averaged 6.7 pts and 4.5 rebounds per game for Titans.


Kersey Wilcox, Jordan Wilcox, Courtney Walchli and Danielle Schmidt were also named to the NWAACC All-Academic team this winter which symbolizes sustained academic excellence over their entire Lane career.


Congratulations to these NWAACC Champions on being awarded scholarships to play at these great colleges and universities.  They join a long list of former Titans who went on to distinguished careers at four institutions!
