Lane bats awaken in sweep of SWOCC
COOS BAY — Cody Chagnon went 2-for-5 and drove in two runs and Daniel Copeland was 2-for-3 with two RBIs to lead Lane Community College to a 10-7 victory over Southwestern Oregon in the first game of an NWAACC Southern Region baseball doubleheader on Saturday.
Lane also won the second game, 10-5, giving the Titans (13-13, 9-5 Southern Region) a five-game winning streak. Lane is in third place in the Southern Region, one game behind Linn-Benton for second.
Andrew Tracy also drove in two runs for the Titans, who had 17 hits and scored four runs in both the fifth and eighth innings. Every Lane player in the starting lineup had at least one hit, and seven players had two or more, including Cody McDonald, who went 3-for-3. Mitch Huff drove in three runs for the Lakers.
Tyler Johnson pitched seven innings of three-hit, shutout ball to earn the victory over the Titans.
In the second game, Tracy went 2-for-3 with two doubles and Corey Wynant went 2-for-3 and drove in three runs to lead Lane.
Matt Taylor added an RBI double for the Titans, and Alex Cornwell earned the victory, allowing six hits over five innings.
