Lane earns split with Roadrunners
ALBANY — Shaun Boehm’s two-out single scored Alex Cornwell from third with a run that Lane needed for a 6-5 victory over Linn-Benton and a split of their NWAACC Southern Region baseball doubleheader on Tuesday.
After the Titans rallied for three runs in the sixth to take a 5-4 lead, Cornwell’s triple and Boehm’s 29th RBI of the season made it 6-4. The Roadrunners scored once in the bottom of the seventh before Colben McGuire capped his 3 2/3 innings of relief with a strikeout to end the game with runners on second and third.
Boehm and Andrew Tracey each had two of Lane’s six hits.
In the opener, Linn-Benton rallied for three runs in the seventh inning for a 5-2 victory. Tracey had two hits and Matt Taylor hit a solo home run for the Titans.
The split left Lane 21-19 overall and 17-11 in the NWAACC South, five games behind region leader Mount Hood, with two regular-season games left against Chemeketa on Thursday. The Titans trail Linn-Benton (27-13, 19-9) by two games for the second and last playoff spot from the South Region.
