LCC’s Perez wins NWAACC championship
BATTLE GROUND, Wash. — Lane Community College’s Cesar Perez won the men’s race to help the Titans finish third Saturday at the Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges cross country championships.
Perez finished the 8,000-meter course at Lewisville Park in 25 minutes, 25 seconds. Spokane’s Anthony Brown was second in 25:29, one second ahead of Lane’s Travis Stevens in third.
Brown was joined by four of his teammates in the top 10 to lead Spokane to the team title with 24 points. Everett was second with 52 and Lane was third with 95 in the 10-team event.
MaCayla Claver finished sixth in 19:11 over 5,000 meters to lead Lane to third place in the women’s race.
Shawna Schooley (18:23), Valerie Massie (18:40) and Kelsey Loomans (18:49) finished first through third for Everett, which won the team title with 23 points. Spokane was second with 55 points and Lane was next with 76.
