Mahaffie Leads Titans to Big Win
Freshman Tori Mahaffie (Eugene, OR.) making her first start of the season scored 14 pts, including 4-for-6 from the three-point line, and led the Lane Titans (21-1, 7-1 South Region) to an 83-39 win over the Mt. Hood CC Saints. The Titans began the game by racing to a 8-0 lead, then extended the margin throughout the half and finished with a 31 pt lead, 51-20.
Mahaffie led four Titans in double figures for the game including Madison Moore (San Ramon, CA.) and Jordan Wilcox (Prineville, OR.) who had 11 pts each and Megan Shields (Sherwood, OR.) who had 10 pts. The Titans also dominated the boards, outrebounding the Saints 61-28. Nicole Hannifan (Milwaukee, OR.) collected 10 boards to lead the team, Shields followed with 9 caroms, Danielle Schmidt (Hillsboro, OR.) was next with 7 rebounds then Mahaffie and Courtney Walchli (Hermiston, OR.) had 6 each.
The Titans pursue South Region leaders Clackamas next Wednesday when they travel to Linn-Benton CC to battle the Roadrunners at 5:30pm. The Titans defeated the Roadrunners earlier this season 85-60.
Lane returns home next Saturday, Feb. 9th, when they play Chemeketa CC in their 6th Annual "Jam the Gym" night in support of breast cancer research. Admission is free with a request to bring cans of food for Food for Lane County. The first 500 fans receive a free t-shirt donated by the Bi-Mart Corporation. The women's game begins at 2:00pm with the men's game following at 4:00pm.
