Potter leads Lane women to region title

OREGON CITY: Lane's Katy Potter cruised to victory, completing the 5,000 meter course at Clackamas Community College in 18 minutes, 58.29 seconds, leading the Titans to the women's team title at the NWAACC Southern Region cross country championships on Saturday. Potter finished 15 seconds ahead of runner-up Emily Trosino of Mount Hood. Lane's Macauley Wilson finished third in 19:20.58 and Nicole Maurmann was fifth in 19:24.05 to lead the Titans to the team title with 24 points. Treasure Valley and Mount Hood tied for second with 83 points, but Treasure Valley claimed second place because its sixth runner finished ahead of Mount Hood's sixth runner. All five Lane scorers finished in the top 10.   

The Lane men finished second behind Clackamas. Eduardo Juarez led the Titans by finishing the 8,000-meter course in 26:05.38, just ahead of teammate Jonathan Cornish, who was sixth in 26:16.87. David Cornish was eighth in 26:31.41.  Clackamas won the meet with 26 points, behind a 1-2-3 individual finish led by Badane Sultessa, who finished in 25:46.01. Lane finished with 53.
