The Titans traveled up to Oregon City, OR for the Southern Region Championships at Clackamas Community College this past weekend. The racing conditions were ideal and the course is fairly flat, which led to several great performances and nearly a personal best and/or a season best time.

The women started the day off with the traditional 5k distance.  Gylany Crossman (SO) led the way for the Titans running her fastest time on the year of 18:08, capturing the individual Title as well.  Rachel Jensen (SO) also claimed her fastest time of the year of 19:00 finishing 5th overall.  "The ladies looked great today", said Coach John Scholl.  "We ran conservatively for 3k and then blasted the last 2k, which moved both of the ladies up one spot over the final mile.  These ladies have been patient and consistent with their training, and I'm excited to see them compete in two weeks."

The men respectively followed up with an 8k.  With stand-out freshman Michael Maisonville resting, the rest of the Titans had to step up their performance.  Cesar Perez (SO) was the Titans top finisher running a gutsy 26:15 to claim the runner-up spot.  Daniel Silvey (FR) also ran strong, finishing 5th overall (26:27).  Ryan Perry (FR), Kyle Ruhlin (FR), and Joe Campbell (FR) ran very tough to help close the team gap and put Lane's top-5 runners in the top-10 overall.  Stetson Smith (FR), Dane Steeves (SO), and Brandon Bouchet (FR) also represented the Titans well running season and personal best finishing in the top-25.  These outstanding performances allowed the men to win the Team Title by a near 3-point margin.  "From #1 to #8, every guy on this squad stepped up in a big way today", said Coach Scholl.  "We had guys dealing with some minor injury and illness issues this week, but it didn't show.  Our guys were hungry and didn't lose focus.  Both the guys and gals are shaping up nicely to run even faster and stronger at the NWAACC Championships in two weeks."

The Titans will have a week off before heading to Everett, WA to compete for the NWAACC League Titles on 11/12.
