Strong finish for Lane women
AUBURN, Wash. — Sierra Carrier scored 24 points, grabbed 15 rebounds and helped the Lane women rally from a sluggish start to beat Columbia Basin, 75-71, on the final day of the Green River Crossover basketball tournament Saturday.
Carrier was named the tournament’s most valuable player for the Titans (10-2), who finished the four-team round-robin event tied with two other teams for the best record at 2-1. Sarah Hall finished with 15 points and 14 rebounds and was named to the all-tournament team.
After trailing 28-17 at the end of the first quarter, the Titans outscored the Hawks (7-3) 20-9 to tie the game at 37 at halftime. Lane pushed ahead in the second half, finishing the game with 24 points from its bench and outrebounding the Hawks 60-36.
Carrier is averaging 17 points and eight rebounds a game this season, scoring 65 points in three tournament games.
