Titans Claim Everett Tourney Crown
Megan Shields dominated inside with her second double-double of the tournament with 19 points and 14 rebounds and freshman Simone Thompson scored a game-high 20 points to lead the Lane Titans to the Everett CC Women's Classic title with an 88-69 win over the host Everett Trojans. The Titans used a balance scoring attack with four players in double figures with Jordan Wilcox 15 points and Kersey Wilcox 10 points joining Shields and Thompson. Freshmen Nicole Hannifan and Thompson also combined on defense to limit Everett star guard Erin Feeney to half her season average, limiting her to 16 points. Behind 18-13 early in the game, the Titans pressure defense began to bother the Trojans and the Titans 3-point shooting started to take effect. The Titans shot 42% for the game from behind the arc, which is their season average, and Everett couldn't recover falling behind by 14 points at the half. Tournament MVP Thompson shot 5-for-12 from three point range and Jordan Wilcox added 4-for-7 from the arc to lead Titan marksman. Sophomore Megan Shields also joined Thompson on the All-Tournament team.
The Titans return to action November 29th in the Titan gym with a non-conference game against the Clark College Penguins. The Titans also have possibly four other home games before Christmas this year with a game scheduled December 13th versus the Lane Alumni, then hosting the Lane CC Crossover Tournament December 14-16.
