Titans Fall to Storm
Lane Lady Titans looked to rebound from their poor shooting performance last Wednesday at Linn-Benton but found no relief at home losing 67-63 to the Chemeketa Storm. The Titans, once again, shot poorly from the field (32%), 3-point line (13%) and free throw line (50%) in the loss. All percentages are below their season averages.
Lane rallied from a 13 point margin in the first half with a late surge and were only down by 8 at the half, but Chemeketa came out of the break and pushed the margin to 12 points within five minutes. The Titans behind the rebounding, scoring and defending of Megan Shields (Sherwood, OR.) crept back in the game and cut the margin to 2 points with 3 minutes to go. However, two missed layups and three more missed 3-point shots doomed the Titans fate.
Shields led the squad in points with 15, rebounding with 14 and blocked shots with 4. Nicole Hannifan (Milwaukee, OR.) had 13 pts, Danielle Schmidt (Hillsboro, OR.) had 11 pts and 7 rebounds, Jordan Wilcox (Prineville, OR.) had 8 pts and 5 rebounds and Courtney Walchli (Hermiston, OR.) had 6 pts and 6 carons for the Titans.
Hannah Frederick lead the Storm with a game high 18 pts and McKenzi Benedict had 12 rebounds for Chemeketa.
The Titans (22-2, 8-2) hope to get back in the win column Wednesday night when they visit Southwestern Oregon CC in a 5:30 game. The Titans still ranked # 1 in the NWAACC and still with the overall best record are two games behind league-leading Clackamas (20-3, 10-0) in the Southern Region.
