Titans need overtime to pass Storm
Lane clinches second place in the NWAC Southern Region with a 101-99 victory over Chemeketa
The Lane men’s basketball team blew an eight point lead in the final few minutes of regulation but then held on in overtime to defeat Chemeketa 101-99 Saturday at home.
Dale Baker scored 25 points and Duce Namazi added 24 for the Titans, who finish the regular season in second place in the south division of the Northwest Athletic Conference.
Lane clung to a 48-45 lead at halftime, but the storm tied it up after trailing by eight with three minutes to go. They hit two three-pointers and took advantage of two missed free throws from the Titans to make a shot with 20 seconds left to tie the score at 87. Lane missed a potential game-winning three-pointer at the buzzer.
In overtime, the Storm led by three with two minutes to go, but Jarred Kelsay hit a three-pointer to tie it and sparked a run that kept the Titans ahead for good.
Baker finished with seven rebounds and five assists, and Tre Clark finished with 19 points, six rebounds and six blocks for Lane, which plays the No. 3 team from the north division next Saturday in Kennewick, Wash., in the NWAC Tournament.
