Titans split with Saints to avoid weekend sweep
Austin Crowson and two relievers pitched a five-hitter as Lane snapped a five-game Northwest Athletic Conference losing streak with a 4-2 win over Mount Hood to split their baseball doubleheader at Titan Field on Sunday.
Crowson (3-1), a freshman from Monroe, went four innings and gave up one earned run on three hits. He struck out four and walked one.
The Titans (15-9, 3-5 NWAC South) averted a four-game series sweep against the Saints with two runs in the fourth inning. Logan Roberts, who picked up the save, had two doubles and an RBI.
In the first game, Mount Hood’s Nate Hunter needed just 57 pitches over seven innings to blank the Titans on four hits in a 10-0 victory. Springfield High grad Taylor Travess was 2-for-4 with an RBI for the Saints.
Sheldon High grad David Bellamy had two singles for Lane.
