Titans take third place behind Geydon

PORTLAND — Freshman Elias Geydon finished second to lead the Lane Community College men’s cross country team to third overall at the Adidas Classic on Saturday.

Geydon covered the 8,000-meter course in 25:19.4. Greg Montgomery of the College of Idaho won in 25:00.2 and led the Coyotes to the team title with 27 points. Oregon Tech was second with 54 and Lane third with 64.

LCC’s Jacob Berkner, a sophomore out of Siuslaw High, was ninth in 26:17.1. Also scoring for the Titans were Theo Puentes (16th, 26:45.7), Sam Van De Velde (17th, 26:49.8) and Trenton Kerschner (20th, 27:01.3).

The top finisher for the Lane women, who were sixth among as many teams, was Macauley Wilson (29th, 20:45.0). Hillary Holt of the College of Idaho, which took the team title, was the winner in 17:35.6.
