Several Siuslaw running standouts are among the cross country recruits announced by LCC

The Lane Community College cross country program has signed some of the state’s top recruits, including a handful of athletes from Siuslaw High.

The new class for the Titan men includes Class 4A state champion Matthew Campbell, Hayden Schaffner (ninth) and Brian Schofield (16th), all from the state champion Siuslaw Vikings. Lane also added North Valley’s Jonathan Cornish (third in Class 4A), David Cornish (fourth) and Andrew Davalos (12th), and Hermiston’s Eduardo Juarez, who was fourth in the Class 5A state meet and boasts a 3,000-meter track record of 8 minutes, 40.57 seconds.

On the women’s side, the Titans signed 2012 state 4A champion Katherine Potter of Siuslaw. She owns track bests of 4:46.20 for the 1,500 and 10:09.20 for the 3,000. Rounding out the women’s class is Alexandria Cross of Tualatin High and Cottage Grove sprint champion Kristine Dunn, who looks to develop her range as a collegian.
