Wright Signs With Canadian University
Sophomore forward Marikah Wright from Bellevue, Washington and Newport High has signed a Letter of Intent to continue her college career at Mount Royal University, Calgary, Alberta.
Wright is the first Lane player in history to sign with a Canadian school. Marikah averaged 10.85 points per game, 5.45 rebounds and shot 80% at the free throw line last year for the Titans as they advanced to the NWAC championship game. Wright fractured her knee cap in the fourth minute of the championship game after scoring the Titans first four points of the game.
Mount Royal University plays in the Canadian first division and Marikah will be eligible to play three more years of college basketball. Unlike American universities, Canadian colleges are eligible to play five years instead four years in the states.
Marikah was honored with 2nd team All-Southern region recognition for the second year in a row and had been scheduled to play in the NWAC All-Star game before her injury.
