Young pitchers help lead Titans past Clark

VANCOUVER, Wash. — Strong pitching by four freshmen and a sophomore led Lane Community College to a baseball doubleheader sweep of Clark on Saturday.

In the first game, sophomore Jeff Hardy (4-2) and freshman Kyle Watson combined on a five-hitter with seven strikeouts in a 13-0 victory in seven innings. Jarren Goddard drove in three runs, Konner Reddick added two RBIs, and Blake Montague had three of the Titans’ 12 hits.

In the nightcap, freshmen Jackson Bertsch (4-1), Shane Quarterley and Travis Boggs scattered five hits over seven innings in a 4-2 win. Forrest Garcia went 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs for Lane (18-9), which took over the NWAACC South Region lead at 10-4.
