EUGENE, OR -- The Titans men's and women's basketball programs continue their Southern Region schedule with clash against the Lakers of Southwestern Oregon on Wednesday, Jan. 7.
The Titans men (5-7 overall, 1-0 conference) will look to stop the Lakers' seven-game winning streak scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. SWOCC (13-1 overall, 1-0 conference) come into Wednesday's game with the second highest winning percentage in the Northwest Athletic Conference (NWAC) and fresh off a home win against Mt. Hood CC, 90-76, on Jan. 3. The Titan men - also coming off an 88-78 win over Portland on Jan. 3 - enter the game as one of the best teams in the NWAC when it comes to 3-point shooting and rim protection. Lane is shooting nearly 36% on 3-pointers (5th in the NWAC) this season and averaging 3.8 blocks per game (2nd in the NWAC).
In the nightcap, the women's team will tip off at 7:30 p.m. against a Lakers team who is 6-6 on the season and won their Southern Region opener against Mt. Hood, 89-46, on Jan. 3. Through the preseason, the Titans have one of the best offenses with a rating tied for second in the NWAC. The duo of Maitlin Young and Gretchen Orton are averaging 18.7 and 14.1 point per game, respectively.
