Grady O'Connor (1997-2017)

Grady O'Connor has been selected as one of three former Lane Titans to be inducted into the Northwest Athletic Conference's Hall of Fame Class of 2026.

O'Connor is a Paisley, Oregon native and completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Oregon while competing on the track and field team, as well as playing safety for the Ducks football team. O'Connor then finished his master's degree in health education at Oregon State.

O'Connor was hired as the full-time track and field and cross country coach at LCC in 1998. He quickly established the track and field team as one of the premier programs in the Pacific Northwest. Under his tutelage, the Titans track and field and cross country teams would go on to set 24 school records, win 38 regional championships, nine NWAC Championships and he was named NWAC Coach of the Year 10 times. Among those 38 regional championships, he helped coach the men's team to 14 consecutive titles.

With O'Connor's coaching, over 400 athletes were named Junior College All-Americans who would go on to compete at Division 1 schools such as the University of Alabama, Michigan State, Oregon State and the UO.

In 2008, the Titans secured approximately $2.5 million in funding to upgrade the track facilities. O'Connor played a large part in communicating and demonstrating the impact a new track would bring. The venue has since served as the primary practice facility for the NCAA Championships, USA Track and Field Nationals, Olympic Trials and much more.

Today, O'Connor continues to teach physical education courses at Lane Community College.

Cyrus Hostetler - Men's Track & Field Athlete (2007-08)

Lane Community College is pleased to announce that former Lane Titans track and field star, Cyrus Hostetler, has been inducted into the Northwest Athletic Conference (NWAC) Hall of Fame Class of 2026.

Hostetler is from Newberg, Oregon where he went to Newberg High School and played football, basketball, baseball and track his senior year.

In addition to playing on the men's basketball team, Hostetler has racked up numerous individual awards from back-to-back NWAACC javelin championships to qualifying for the Olympics–not once–but twice.

In fact, he qualified for the 2008 Olympic Trials as an athlete at Lane. His 241-foot javelin throw was enough to meet the threshold for qualification into the trials. That result also surpassed the previous school record by nearly 30 feet.

As a Titan, he also participated in the decathlon where he placed fourth at the 2008 conference championships. He graduated from Lane in 2008 and found a home with the University of Oregon Ducks.

He would go on to set a new Pac-10 Conference record for the men's javelin.

Injuries would cut his 2010 season short, but his achievements off the track earned him a spot on the Academic All-American First Team.

In 2011, he earned second place at the Pan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico.

Cyrus continued to compete and made the cut for the 2012 Olympics in London, where he would go on to place 31st in the men's javelin. Four years later, he again represented Team USA at the 2016 Olympics in Rio De Janeiro and placed 20th.

Shelby (Shoffner) Snook - Women's Basketball (2013-16)

The Lane Titans Athletics Department is thrilled to announce Shelby Snook (formerly Shoffner) as one of the inductees into the Northwest Athletic Conference Hall of Fame Class of 2026.

Snook played for the Roseburg High School Indians where she was a four-time letter winner and all-conference selection in basketball, as well as a two-time letter winner in track and field. In basketball, she left RHS as the school's all-time leading scorer.

Snook played two seasons for the Titans from 2013-2016 (including a redshirt year) and dominated from the time she arrived on campus. As a freshman she played in 32 games and averaged 19.2 points, 6.6 rebounds and 1.2 steals per contest and helped Lane finish 24-8 and qualify for the NWAACC tournament.

She took a redshirt year in 2014-2015 to nurse an injury.

In her 2015-16 sophomore season, she continued to play at an MVP level averaging 18.1 points and 7.9 assists per game. The Titans advanced to the NWAACC Championship and Snook was named Tournament MVP and named to the All-Southern Region First Team (her second time on the First Team).

Snook ranks in the Top 5 for several categories including points in a season, single season field goals made, assists in a season and free throws made in a season.

She went on to play two more seasons for the Wolves of Western Oregon University from 2016-18. As a junior, she led her team in scoring (13.6 PPG) and minutes per game (34.2).

Her senior season was capitalized by a spot on the Academic All-Great Northwest Athletic Conference.

Following her graduation, she joined the Wolves coaching staff as a graduate assistant for two seasons from 2018-2020.
