Lane's Sporting Excellence Recognized in Athletic Director's, State Association Cups

EUGENE, OR – Last week, Lane Community College was recognized for their athletic achievements among two-year schools in Oregon, California and Washington. 

In the NATYCAA (National Alliance of Two-Year College Athletic Administrators) Cup State Associations Division (also known as a Ron Case Cup), Lane finished 6th out of 10 schools recognized. Per the Northwest Athletic Conference (NWAC), the NATYCAA Cup honors overall program excellence in two-year college athletics, with points awarded based on success in championship competition. 

At the conclusion of the 2025–26 year, the following institutions earned Top 10 finishes in the State Associations Cup:

2. Spokane Colleges (NWAC)                            7. American River College (NWAC)
3. Sierra College (32CA)                                   8. Santa Barbara City College (32CA)
4. Orange Coast Community College (32CA)      9. Cerritos College (32CA)
5. Fresno City College (32CA)                          10. Long Beach City College (32CA)

In the 2025-26 NWAC Athletic Director's Cup, Lane finished as runner up in the Upper Division (10+ sports), behind Spokane Colleges. According to the NWAC, the Athletic Director's Cups (Dr. Maury Ray Cup) to the schools that performs the best in each of the conference's 13 men's and women's championships. Starting with the 2025-26 athletic calendar, the NWAC revamped the award with a new scoring format and splitting the conference into three divisions: the upper, middle, and lower divisions. The upper division consists of schools with 10 or more sports, middle division schools have 7-9 sports, and the lower division programs have six or less sports. The formula consists of weighting each sport based on the number of participating teams, and adding bonus points based on regular season and postseason finishes. Each schools total points are then divided by the number of sports they compete in.
