EUGENE, OR -- On Wednesday, March 18, the Lane Titans baseball team split a home doubleheader against the Umpqua Riverhawks. In Game 1, Umpqua extended their winning streak with a 6-2 win. That streak was snapped a short time later when the Titans took Game 2 by a score of 6-0.
The Titans couldn't overcome an early deficit in a 6–2 loss. After holding Umpqua scoreless through two innings, Lane surrendered four runs in the third. The Titans managed six hits, with RBIs from Peyton Tyner and Jalen Riddle, scoring their runs in the final two innings.
Lane rallied in the second series with a 6–0 win over Umpqua. Quinton Olson led the offense with two hits and an RBI, while Cody Roletto drove in three runs. Donnie Morgan added a solo home run and scored once. On the mound, Torsten Hersom and Sam Wilson combined for a one-hit shutout, striking out six and allowing just three walks to secure the victory.
The Titans will travel to Gresham and play the Mt. Hood Saints on March 25.
