Both the 2022-23 and 2023-24 seasons ended in ultimate favor for the Lane Titans Women's Basketball team.
The outright Southern Region Championship and the NWAC Championship.
This season, the expectations have not wavered.
Returning last years leading scorer, Emma McDonald, as well as the reigning NWAC Tournament MVP, Micah Wicks, the Titans feel the window to win another title is wide open.
Sophomore forward Lillee Duffin, from Idaho Falls, is also expected to make a significant leap on both ends of the floor.
Lane also returns local sophomore guard Brooklyn Moody from Churchill High School.
In addition to the returners, the Titans also brought in fresh faces who are expected to make impacts early.
Kya Kanoho, a Hawaiian native who transferred from Western Oregon University, provides a spark at the guard position.
Oregon natives Maitlin Young (Astoria), Dianara Peña (Klamath Falls), and Ruby Haarberg (Bend) will offer versatililty on the young Titans roster.
Local guards Dakota Carson from Creswell High School and Lana Nguyen from North Eugene High School give depth in the backcourt.
Rounding out the frehsmen class are three out of state gaurds, Alessa Soto (Ephrata, Washington), Taytum Johnson (Fairfield, California), and Brittea Byrge (Herriman, Utah) have made impacts in their short time with the program.
"Our team is filled with talent and depth at every position," Head Coach Greg Sheley remarked, "our only job now is to put it all together."
The Titans, coming off their 4th straight Region Championship, will be battle tested in a tough Southern Region.
While Lane comes into the season ranked 1st in the NWAC Preseason Coaches Poll, Umpqua sits just behind ranked 2nd. Clackamas and Portland also find themselves in the top 10, ranked 5th and 0th, respectively.
Despite the tough competition, the conference leading 7-time NWAC Champions will go into every game with the expectation to win.
The Titans open their season at home on November 15th against the 10th ranked Treasure Valley Chukars on the first day of the annual Titan Classic.
